Heres your #Quickbooks tip of the day!
When you’re working in QuickBooks Online or Desktop, you don’t need to reach for the calculator. Simply place the cursor in the amount field and start typing just like you would using a calculator.
Let’s say you need to write a check to pay for 3 separate bills. Just type 1+2+3, enter and it’s done.
Even more complex math is easy. Let’s say you need to split the cost of an item over 3 account codes. Take the cost amount, say $10.00, in the amount field type 10/3, enter. Save a few minutes by not reaching for a calculator! #TipTuesday #quickbookstips #ABSCarolinas #accounting #accountanttotherescue

For self employed professionals such as realtors and consultants, KEEP UP WITH YOUR MILEAGE! On January 1 -NEW YEARS DAY 📆-make a note of the mileage on your car.
Get a small pocket size calendar and keep it in your car. Weekly, just use abbreviations for places you’ve been. You can Mapquest the mileage later. Also use your bank and credit card statements to back track locations where you’ve been. Do this monthly (only 12 times a year) Adding up the mileage driven for each of 12 months isn’t so hard.
The standard mileage rate for 2017 is 53.5 cents a mile. That can add up to big dollar business tax deductions.💰💵
Here is a #funfact you may not have known about! Poor anglers paying the price. 🎣
An excise tax is considered an indirect tax, meaning that the producer or seller who pays the tax to the government and is expected to try to recover or shift the tax by raising the price paid by the buyer. Taxes on a fishing pole? Yes, there is-here is the actual tax code.
Sport Fishing Equipment
A tax of 10%💰 of the sale price is imposed on many articles of sport fishing equipment sold by the manufacturer. This includes any parts or accessories sold on or in connection with the sale of those articles.
Sport fishing equipment includes all the following items.
1. Fishing rods and poles (and component parts), fishing reels, fly fishing lines, and other fishing lines not over 130 pounds test, fishing spears, spear guns, and spear tips.
2. Items of terminal tackle, including leaders, artificial lures, artificial baits, artificial flies, fishing hooks, bobbers, sinkers, snaps, drayles, and swivels (but not including natural bait or any item of terminal tackle designed for use and ordinarily used on fishing lines not described in (1)). #funfactfriday #ABSCarolinas #accounting #accountanttotherescue
Quickbooks Tip of the Day:
Keep your vendor lists neat & concise. Here’s how:
Instead of setting up a vendor for gas stations by name like, Circle K, Pilot, Exxon, BP, Shell, Kangaroo, etc. create a vendor “various gas stations” then you can always type the name in the memo if it’s important.
Same for restaurants. Is it really important to have the name of every fast food restaurant in your vendor list? Use “Various restaurants” and put the name in the memo. You may still want to enter some restaurant names for places you have meetings etc. #TipTuesday #quickbookstips #ABSCarolinas #accounting #accountanttotherescue

July QuickBooks Tips and Tricks:
You reconile your bank account each month. Does that mean your bank account balance is correct? Not really.
At the reconciliation window do you have items in the withdrawal column and items in the deposit column that are old? Think of it this way: a deposit means money went into the bank so it will be on the bank statement and will be marked as cleared. So if you have uncleared items in the deposit column there is a mistake somewhere. Research uncleared transactions for accuracy.
Better information, better decisions, better business...Florrie
