We hear that some of you may be doing a little cooking this week... Here's a quick article on how to handle kitchen fires should something start to burn, whether in your microwave, oven, stovetop or fryer. Also make sure your fire extinguishers are in-date and accessible so you can respond quickly. If you do have a fire and cannot immediately control it with your extinguisher have everyone leave the house, shut (but don't lock) the door, and call 911!

#Thanksgiving is NEXT WEEK! VDOT hopes to make your Turkey Day travel a little easier by suspending most highway work zones and lifting most lane closures on interstates and other major roads in Virginia from noon Wednesday, Nov. 27, until noon Monday, Dec. 2.

Our interactive travel-trends map shows peak congestion periods on #Virginia interstates during the three previous Thanksgiving holidays. While it cannot precisely predict when congestion will occur this year, it can help motorists avoid travel when roads have historically been busiest. Click here to access the map: http://bit.ly/2Xw3uh4

Based on traffic data, periods of moderate to heavy congestion will most likely occur in these areas at these times:

There may have been some unseasonably warm weather this past weekend, but cold temperatures are officially here! If you haven't already, disconnect and turn off/drain any outdoor water connections to your outside hose bib(s) and sprinklers to keep them from freezing.

Check on your pipes that are located in unheated spaces (garages, under cabinets on outside walls, etc.) and add insulation if necessary.

LVE Community, Many of you might be aware that the owners of the shopping center are going for a zoning change that they hope will make the center viable. Many of us have noticed that stores in the center have not been very successful. Atpco believes by adding office space and a gas station will help make the center viable. Many of us would love to see a more vibrant center with more to offer. The challenge we have is that Atapco believes that a gas station will save the center and make it viable. Of course there is no proof of this and this has no bearing on the corner stone tenant of the center Harris Teeter. Many of us use the Harris Teeter as a convenience store, as Wegmans, Aldi and Lidle are close by and offer a better and more diverse choice for shoppers. Basically Harris Teeter and their inability to cater to the diverse make up the community is the reason the center is having issues. Many of us believe that if HT was a more dynamic store much more of the community would do their weekly shopping there not just the, shot we ran out of milk. The zoning application right now has a commercial and a gas station as plan A. Plan B is just commercial space and seems like a much better option for the space and community. Plan B does not impact the area to the same extent as the gas station plan. The biggest issue I have found is pretty simple, significant new impervious surface no new drainage ponds or infrastructure. What this means is that more run off that includes the run off from the gas station will run directly into Broad run via the stream behind the chase. The entire point of settling ponds is to help prevent Broad run from flooding every year as the area is built up. Not to mention the hydrocarbon leaching into the stream from the station. Unfortunately for me I am not able to make the planning meeting, but suggest that residents from the chase and Glen might want to go and voice their thoughts. Below are the issues I have with the Zoning application (scheduled for 12/17/19 Planning Commission Public Hearing) This write up and comments, FB is not great for this..... https://docs.google.com/document/d/1vfm6PlmuKHCCocAdAg0ArjrHk0h3XFlnZqt7UqtTkUA/edit?usp=sharing Zoning application https://interwapp01.loudoun.gov/WebLDAs/AppDetails.aspx?qsAppID=ZMAP-2018-0013&qsDirLnk=B

Happy Diwali to all my friends who celebrate the Festival of Lights , on this special day, I wish and pray god to give you all good health and unlimited happiness 🎉🎊🌺♥️🙏 Diwali was celebrated as a significance of triumph of good over evil after Lord Krishna's Victory over Narakasura. ... Hindus of eastern India associate the festival with the goddess Durga, or her fierce avatar Kali (Shaktism), who symbolises the victory of good over evil.
Please look at the below picture and pass along to your neighbors and friends. Since school started I have seen multiple vehicles pass through an intersection (4 way stop) when the school bus was stopped with lights on and kids boarding Virginia School Bus Laws In the following pictures, the red vehicles must stop and remain stopped until all children are clear of the roadway and the bus moves again. You must stop for stopped school buses with flashing red lights and an extended stop sign when you approach from any direction on a highway, private road or school driveway. Stop and remain stopped until all persons are clear and the bus moves again. You must also stop if the bus is loading or unloading passengers and the signals are not on. You do not have to stop if you are traveling in the opposite direction on a roadway with a median or barrier dividing the road and the bus is on the opposite side of the median or barrier. However, be prepared for unexpected actions by persons exiting the school bus.
It appears today’s yoga class was canceled. Anyone know about tomorrow’s?
