Today I finished this beautiful king size quilt. I started this quilt just because I loved the fabrics and the pattern. My neighbor wanted to buy it but wanted it to be king size. I had enough fabric left over to add a piano key border and make it a king. I also was able to make a few pillows to go with the quilt. I love when a project comes together. There are no scraps left behind.

I tried a new pattern called “flipping out” by Annie. I like it and is great for storing items like makeup and markers. Just zip it up for storage or travel. When using it the top flips down foe easy access. I’ll be making more in assorted fabrics.

I thought it might be nice to share what we are working on. I hope you will take a second and share a photo of your current project.
I will start with this Sea Glass Quilt I just finished. Many of you know I have a bit of an obsession with curves!

Feel free to drop off your quilt tops. If you prefer not to meet face to face, leave a note as to thread color, batting choice and design preference.

It’s business as usual at Kappes Kreations. If you have quilt tops that need quilting, feel free to bring them over. When one quilts, there are always projects to do and no need for boredom. I’m hoping to finish bindings on two king size quilts this week. Taking movie recommendations for that job.

I took this customer quilt off the longarm this morning. I love the succulents, their colors are so beautiful.

Finally quilted this quilt top I made a few years ago. A fun quilt to use up scraps. If interested in buying this let me know. Would make a good lap quilt to cover up with while binge watching your favorite shows.

My Story Quilt is finished. Ideas were taken from Mimi Dietrich’s book and I made blocks unique to me. The idea behind this is to tell your story in stitches and to sit with your grandchildren and use the blocks to share a story from your life growing up. Those who knew me “when” might figure out what the blocks represent. One example is the ladybug represents my maiden name, as I was born Susan Marie Lady.

I pulled this quilt top off my shelf and quilted it this week. I am afraid I must have pieced this at least 15 years ago. Now all that’s left is hand sewing the binding. This measures 88 x 104. I could be interested in selling this quilt. I’ll need a few movies to get all my bindings done.

Happy New Year! This year I plan to finish all unfinished projects before starting something new🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Seriously I am going to commit to finishing the 7 projects I posted a partial picture of. I have many more but will try to finish these. First one needs borders, quilted and bound. I bought those fabrics and pattern many years ago in Houston. The second one is a disappearing nine patch I need to finish piecing, quilt and bind. The third one I made more years than I can remember. Perhaps at least 10. So sad. Needs quilting. The fourth one is my story quilt. I need to finish piecing it and then quilt it. Each block tells a part of my story to share with my grandchildren. The fifth one is my next pictorial quilt of my grandson and his dog. I sure hope to complete it. I’ve asked for a week of carryout meals so I can focus on getting it done. The sixth quilt is a king scrappy quilt I pieced this past year that I want to quilt in time for the York quilt show in April. Finally I just need to do the final step of hand sewing the binding down. I need a few good movies to finish that.
What projects will you commit to finishing this year?

Quilt Odyssey

Quilt Odyssey

It is with heavy hearts, we announce Quilt Odyssey will not be taking place this year. Due to health concerns we must cancel the show scheduled for July 23-25, 2020 in Hershey, PA. We apologize to our Quilt Odyssey family including our registrants, visitors, merchants, sponsors, teachers and staff. Quilt Odyssey has been part of our family for two decades and this decision didn’t come without many thoughtful hours of consideration for our entire community. We will miss seeing all of you this summer.

Because the rumors will fly – please note officially: We did not sell the company, nor did we partner or merge with any organization. We will still have future retreats and we will not rule out a future quilt show, but right now, a focus on health is necessary.

Our Quilt Odyssey facebook and website will still be here to announce any upcoming future events. Our email is still live and we will answer any message if you send them thru facebook or email as we are able.

We appreciate your love for all things Quilt Odyssey and wish you health and happiness this holiday season and into the new year.

With love,
The Molino Family

Warning, this is an iron rant. Scroll on by if you aren’t interested in my iron issues. My business depends on having a good iron. I have had 3 Rowentas at about $100 each that always ended up spitting and leaking. Tried a Shark at $90 and it started leaking within a year of using it. I even bought the $200 iron at the quilt show that some lady sells by singing it’s praise. I hate that iron. It is so very thirsty and has me running to the sink way to often. If anyone wants it call, you can have it for $50.

Today I went back to Walmart and bought a $27 Black and Decker. My favorite iron was a B&D some 20 years ago. Here’s hoping it doesn’t spit or leak. I have a few Tee Shirt quilts to finish for customers for Christmas.
