We were honored to have them with us...
Each year, approximately 300 professionals gather at the Grand Traverse Resort in Traverse City, Michigan in order to better support individuals with disabilities and other barriers. This re:con convention allows professionals to come together for networking, workshops and discussions as well as engage with vendors and suppliers.
During the conference, vendors are invited to purchase a booth in order to sell their products. Micro Enterprise entrepreneurs from around the state are invited to do so at a discounted rate. For the entrepreneurs who may not be able to make the financial commitment for a vendor booth and hotel accommodations, there are scholarships available. This year, two of our own entrepreneurs from the Blue Boutique in downtown Adrian were awarded scholarships.
An opportunity like this is rare, but can make an impact on the lives of individuals that most people never understand. “It makes me feel happy that I could come and make money. Also that I can meet other people who have their own businesses and see what they make,” HalieBop’s Lotions, Potions & Crafts business owner. “I like coming to Traverse City to sell my things. I don’t think I have ever been here before! I like staying at the hotel and all the good food,” Yarn It Darn It business owner.
